"Learning with Puppets "
Grades
K-2
Come and see Mrs. McPuppet's
collection of puppets from around the world. Learn about
what country they are from, how they made, and what style
of puppetry they represent. Then, using her trunk load of
supplies Mrs. McPuppet will help everyone make a puppet to
accompany one of the classic folktales that was presented in
the performance. Using the language and drama of the story,
each child will bring their puppets to life to reenact the
tale. This story-telling experience is a wonderful way to
encourage literacy, language, and self-confidence.! |

"Professor Puddlefoot's Puppet Theater"
Grades 3-6:
Hand puppetry is an easy and fun way to bring stories
to life. Professor
Puddlefoot begins this hands on workshop by introducing the class
to the key
ingredients of puppetry and the vocabulary of the theater and
stage. Everyone
is given a hand puppet to learn the basic movements and learn how to
make the
puppet express ideas. From inside the puppet stage, we will
practice
presenting short skits adding props and dialogue. It is a exciting
process leading the
class to a larger project , the retelling a folk tale, a famous
biography,
Native American tales or original stories. Perform for other
classes and
experience the excitement of puppet theater. This workshop can be a
1 hour
presentation or a week-long residency culminating in a performance.
