Puppets are a wonderful way to communicate with children - a direct line to their world. I use puppets extensively as a means to dialogue about feelings, values, and life in general.  Children will hear what puppets have to say more quickly than the same words from adults.

My shows are participatory.  Most children are natural performers and the wall between audience and performer is bridged.

Teachers, administrators, parents, adults are always invited to participate...Mrs. McPuppet's word includes everyone, and children love knowing that adults can join their world of make believe.

Colorful props add a sense of mystery and support the communication.  Children also learn that "toys" need be only an old shirt, a silly hat, a bit of cloth, a sock turned into a puppet.

Watching adults able to have fun and pretend unleashes the creativity and sense of joy for many children who otherwise might be inhibited.

Children are fascinated by traditional media such as shadow puppets. The key is believable characters with something to say.

Talking directly to children with respect engages them more than any other method.

Music as a means to communicate and entertain interests children and I talk about each instrument I use.

My performance as Mrs. Mc.Puppet is first and last about communication and the wonderful world we share.
