Magic Treasure Shop
A visitor noted recently that she and her family have

 Joyous Spring Elizabeth,
I love February, we
start to daydream about
spring when the sun
feels so strong
reflected against the
snow and the cardinals
are beginning to sing. A
late Valentine's wish to
you all! Last week
Cayuga Lake was full of
red headed ducks,
several thousands, and
floating among them were
big beautiful Trumpeter
swans, what a sight.
Pretty soon they will be
heading back north to
their summer digs.
Pretty soon, we will see
snowdrops and I mean the
plant variety.

Mrs. Frog was
in fine form
singing away
with me at our
first recording
session on Feb.
12. With a
chorus of human
frog and toad
voices we sang
"I've Got a
Toad" with all
the merry
croaking that
goes along with
such a song. At
Masterview
Soundcrafts,
Peter Hopper,
the engineer and
host, creats a
wonderful
atmophere for
singing and
performing your
best. 4 songs in
the can for the
new recording
"The Magic
Parade". Next ,
getting readyto
record 5 with
the Hot Foot

including the

everybody's
favorite is the
Baby Hippo on
Blue Sky
Sparklin' Day.
Now this
character is an
inspired subject
to write about.
Download the
Book Cover and
ask your
students to
describe how
they would
entertain the
Baby Hippo at
their house.
What would they
show her/him,
what games would
they play, what
books would they
read to her, and
what songs would
they sing.
Another type of
book could be
all about
hippos, the
science facts,
or, The
Adventures of
the Baby Hippo,
a fantasy tale
with
illustrations.

| Chili for a Late Winter -
Early Spring
Day! |

- 3 cups
chopped
onion
- 3 garlic
cloves,
minced or
pressed
- 1
generous
teaspoon of
cumin
- 1
generous
teaspoon of
chili powder
- 1
Tablespoon
Tabasco or
other hot
pepper sauce
- 2 green
bell peppers
- 2 cups
frozen corn
- 1 can
drained
black beans
- 1 can
drained
kidney beans
- .5 cup
of bulghar
soaked in .5
cup boiling
water
Heat olive
oil in large
saucepan. Saute
onions, garlic,
cumin, chili
powder, and
Tabasco.When
onions are soft
stir in bell
peppers and
sauté for 2-3
minutes. Add
chopped
tomatoes. Stir
in corn and
beans. Simmer
the chili for a
while.Serve
topped with
cheese!

Last summer we
visited Iceland,
the land of fire
and ice, close
to the Artic
Circle. The
colorful Puffin
leaves her life
on the open sea
to build a 2
room apartment
on a cliff and
spend the summer
tending to its
one lovely egg
with her mate. I
like to
incorporate
stories about my
travels into my
visits to
schools and I
make the puffin
parrot helps to
lead the way.
