School Performances

Mrs.
McPuppet and Her Beautiful Bookcase
Mrs.
McPuppet arrives at your school with a colorful bookcase full of interesting
books and surprises. From her bookcase, she chooses the books which emphasize
the important themes of Character Education and brings them to life. Using
puppets, songs and costumes, Mrs. McPuppet illustrates the ideals of
trustworthiness, responsibility and caring.
Mrs.
McPuppet and Her Family and Friends
In
this performance, you will feel the warmth and importance of friendship. Come to
the tea party and nibble on a crumpet and sing along as the story of “Stone
Soup” unfolds. Watch the Billy Goats Gruff meet the troll and join the Henny
Penny Gang as they make their way to the King's castle. Depending on the
season, different folk tales will be presented.
Mrs. McPuppet and Her Menagerie
A
variety of animals come to life through puppets and song. Meet Mrs. Tortoise,
all the way from the Galapagos Islands, learn the motions to “Fiddle I Fee,” and
see the fish and crustaceans come to life on a coral reef. Each year new skits
and puppets are created and added to the show. Mrs. McPuppet's menagerie will
delight all and encourage a curiosity about animal life.
Puppets and Music for
Grades 3-5

The performance begins with an introduction to the history of
puppetry and then several styles of puppets are used to illustrate songs from
Mrs. McPuppet's recordings. Audience
participation plays a major role, with students taking part in singing, dancing,
and performing for their peers.
The puppets, especially the shadow puppets, can become a
starting point for a later classroom activity. The performance, full of life and
art, captures students' attention and imagination.
P.A.R.P. - Parents as Reading Partners

With
puppets, costumes, and the quiz game, this performance is a fun kick off or
grand finale to P.A.R.P. The excitement of this show centers around the thrill
of reading. Several times during the performance there is a guessing game to
name the title and author of an excerpt from a famous book. A Mrs. McPuppet CD
is the prize. Along with the game, several classic folktales are presented with
the accompanied songs learned in music class. It's a great way to highlight a
P.A.R.P. celebration.
